Celebrating the life of
George William Zeigler, Jr.
September 28, 1939 - March 06, 2011
George W. Zeigler, Jr., 71, died Sunday, March 6, 2011 at Memorial Hospital. Mr. Zeigler was born in Savannah, Georgia on September 28, 1939, the son of the late Maggie and George W. Zeigler. He was raised in Bloomingdale where he resided until age 15. He then resided at Gracewood Institution for 30 years and then with Gateway Services formerly Tidelands in Savannah for the remainder of his life.
He was employed with the Coastal Center for Developmental Services and loved his "work". George exceeded beyond his handicapped expectations. His Mother and Daddy would have been so pleased with all he had accomplished since their passing in 1982. George attended Bible Baptist "Lighted Pathway" Service and was a member of the Ambucs Handicapped Bowling League.
He is survived by his sister, Martha Z. Sloan and her husband, J. Erv Sloan, and by his nephew, Jimmy Allen Lisa Hughes. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to extend a very special appreciation to some of his care-givers, Louise, Sara, Helen and Bernice, who helped him achieve his goals.

I am a much better person from my many experiences with George Jr, mostly on the farm, but elsewhere also. He set the standard for devotion to family, friends, and most importantly his work. Jan and express our sorrow for the loss of George Jr here, and our comfort that he'll find good work there.
